Information on Queensburgh
Queensburgh is a middle-class suburb in south-western Durban in KwaZulu-Natal Province, also known as the Zulu Kingdom. Its name was established in 1954 when Queen Elizabeth II was crowned, the suburb of Malvern changing its name to Queensburgh in honour of the occasion. This popular area has grown so much since then that the name Malvern has been resuscitated as a mini-suburb within Queensburgh. Another area of Queensburgh is Northdene with its delightful North Park Nature Reserve comprising coastal lowland forest adjacent to the Umhlatuzana River, hiking trails, wild game and abundant birdlife including waterbirds. Straddling the M7 freeway, Queensburgh is perfectly positioned between the southern industrial hubs of Prospecton, Jacobs and Mobeni, and the Pinetown industrial areas of Westmead and New Germany. Also close to the M4 Southern Freeway, Queensburgh is very convenient for Durban International Airport. Visitors to Queensburgh are well looked after by comfortable B&B guesthouses and self-catering lodges as well as a good selection of hospitable restaurants and pubs. | |||||
